Mung Bean Sprouts

Grow Mung Bean Sprouts at home

How to grow mung bean sprouts at home? How to grow thick mung bean sprouts? How long does it take to grow mung bean sprouts? Learn everything here. Mung bean sprouts are most commonly seen big and thick without roots and green leaves at the market. Are those safe to eat? No! They are possibly grown with chemicals such as hormones, bleaching powder and preservatives. These chemicals can harm our health. If you are afraid of it like me, start growing your own mung bean sprouts from today. You will likely never get your home grown sprouts to look like those you see at a restaurant or supermarket, but you can still get some thickness by placing pebbles on the beans. Pebbles are used as weights. The sprouts become thicker if the beans are grown under a weight that exerts pressure on them. The simplest method for growing bean sprouts at home is to use a bean sprout machine. The bean sprout machine will automatically spray water on the beans keeping your beans moist. It takes 3 days (approximately 46 hours) to sprout mung beans. However, this is only an approximation and can vary. Cooler temperatures will slow the growing process, and warmer climates can speed it up. Another point to note, mung bean sprouts must be grown in the dark to prevent changing in color and bitterness. Set the bean sprout machine in a dark place while sprouting.
